Переглядів 1,9 тис.2 місяці тому
Stowell Mfg & Foundry Co's "Hanson" combination vise: 5 tools in 1! Anvil, filing vise, saw vise, drill press, and pipe vise demonstrated and tested, it feels that this little unit was worth the 6$ originally charged for it. I'd like to thank Phil for preserving this thing prior to me.
Restoring a Hand Cranked Crane to Lift a Swage Block
Переглядів 3 тис.4 місяці тому
An old dairy crane/ hand cranked winch finds new life helping remove a 215lb swage block from my trunk! This crane originally moved 30gal milk cans from a cooled cistern and into a wagon for transport to a cheese factory, cheese being Canada's second largest export behind lumber and wood products around the turn of the century.

Antique Grain Grinder making Chicken Feed
Переглядів 1,6 тис.7 місяців тому
The chickens need some scratch and the corn is ready, so there is no better time to try out the Goold Shapley & Muir grain grinder. Last used over 50 years ago, it has no trouble to grind up a few cobs worth of corn. In the future, I'll run it at a slower speed with a stationary engine.

Power Hacksaw Restoration: 1930s Excelsior
The handle above the brush rigging is for moving the brushes to eliminate sparking. The operating position of the brushes will also need to be moved if sparking increases due to current changes from different mechanical loads. It wasn't long before commutating coils were invented to eliminate the need to physically move the brushes to compensate for load changes.

You will be the man, everyone will be coming to you when the apocalypse comes, and it’s coming. UV readings are off the charts and will continue to get worse. Hunting, growing (if possible) and self sufficient is the key going into 2030-2040
What is the estimated SPH of this unit? (socks per hour)
Would depend on the length of ones leg, approx. 20 pairs of TLSPH (tall leg socks per hour) or 24 SLSPH (short leg socks per hour)
@@castironmachines Impressive!
From electric to diesel power? Best conversion ever
I enjoyed watching you get the old girl running again. I was surprised how well she idled and the lack of smoke. Great job!
The lights you said made in Germany… They’re Volkswagen beetle tail lights
They made things to last like these beautiful old cars which had soul & character not like the vehicles today which are soulless & very tinny.
Now that's what I call driving in style XD
That's awesome! I've seen a lot of 19th century-early 20th cebtury knitting machines and I love watching them do their work
How did you weld the broken parts? I have one broken in few parts too! I’ve heard I should not welder cast iron. Thanks for your help!
I brazed them with an oxy acetylene torch and bronze rods. You can electrically weld cast iron but you need special rods containing nickel
Industrialization moment
Nice cap.
This is SOOOOO relaxing!
Wow!! I've never seen anything like that before. Wish you could do a full video of this machine, I hate shorts.
Fine idea, I’ll make a more thorough video in a few days!
@@castironmachines -- Awesome, thanks!!
That’s engineering
Out with the new in with the old. Great job!
What a comfortable seat. Lol
With well crafted simply made products would sell world wide, being made in such a fantastic workshop. At a healthy Profit. Keep more vids coming, but produce!
That poor elephant.
Edison had nothing at all to do with that poor elephant’s death. BTW. It happened 13 years after the whole AC vs DC thing was over.
Unreal.
Мы живём в мире одноразовых вещей, сейчас вещи быстро теряют свою ценность и мы снова идём в магазин, чтобы купить новые. Но вот эти машины из другой эпохи. Спасибо за вашу работу.
Super bravo de France
What a beautiful machine!
Yesterday i made a first start after 41 years
So do you know if those gears are made of cast Iron of high carbon steel.
Based on the surface finish in the grooves/ spokes of the original gears, they are cast iron.
You need to get into the steam chest and pull the front head. You are lucky to have found this engine.
Very cool shop. I am beginning construction of my new shop. It has both shaft power as well as electric power. Like that red lathe.
Yea runs nice
Witch is simple by touching the feild to hot that's nice thing too gens

9:43 is that a vw tail light??? 😅 weird place to find that.
I would be great to see it fully restored
See ya removed all the guards
Yes sir.
Did they have QVC back then? But wait! That's not all!
@17:10 every back yard tinkerer needs a good kitty supervisor Edit: also to add about the 6V and 12V batteries. You can tell what the battery is based on how many caps are on top. Each cap is a cell and each cell is 2V. 3 caps = 6 V and 6 caps = 12V. The starter should not care what the ground orientation is.
beautiful lawn, like a carpet without trodden paths and ruts
I want that machine. I've run shingle mills and this one is genius....
Wooohooo!
as i walk through the valley of death I will not fear… Or some crap like that…
Worst design i have ever seen. You gona be missing some fingers and knuckles soon.
Looks more like a medieval death machine turned into a shingle cutter !
I love this
All runs off of the tractor. Use is anywhere a tractor can go.
